Weapons Policy

The MHS is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all patrons, researchers, and staff. To ensure the safety and security of everyone at the MHS, the following policy regarding weapons, including replica weapons, is in effect:

  1. Weapons of any kind, including but not limited to firearms, knives, explosives, and any other objects designed to cause harm, are strictly prohibited on MHS premises.
  2. Replica weapons, which are items that closely resemble real weapons but are not functional, are also prohibited in the library. This includes replica firearms, swords, knives, and any other objects that may be mistaken for real weapons.
  3. Any individual found in possession of a weapon or replica weapon on MHS property will be asked to immediately remove the item from the premises. Failure to comply may result in removal from MHS grounds and possible suspension of MHS privileges.
  4. Law enforcement personnel on duty and any individual with direct permission from the MHS Director of Safety and Security will be exempt from this policy.
  5. The MHS reserves the right to contact law enforcement if an individual is found to be in possession of a weapon or replica weapon and poses a threat to the safety of others.
  6. This policy is in effect at all times and applies to all individuals entering the MHS or any event sponsored and or hosted by the MHS, including patrons, researchers, staff, volunteers, and visitors.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and secure environment for everyone at the MHS.
