John Rowe, a merchant, was the owner of one of the tea ships involved in the Boston Tea Party. In this letter he reports on the election of four representatives at the annual town meeting, as well as the arrival of Captain Shayler with news of the first of the Coercive Acts, the Boston Port Bill.
