Robert Treat Paine Papers, Volume 2
I am favoured with your letter of the 21st ulto.1 but was not at home when Mr. Liscome came, & have not seen him. I have been with Mr. Gould to know the date of his deed & the Consideration & find it the 10th April 1770 £120. If Mr. Liscome will pay the money you may abate him the interest which will be 10 Dollars the 10th of this month, if not he must or at least he ought to give me security for sixty pounds with interest from 10th April last. I do not chuse to abate of £60, & think giving up ten months interest is as great indulgence as he can expect or desire.2 I am with much esteem your very humble Servt.
