Talking Headstones: What biographers learn from visiting their subjects’ graves

At MHS

Julie Dobrow, Tufts University
Natalie Dykstra, Hope College
Megan Marshall, Emerson College

We confess: the idea came to us last October. Why not talk about the curious and creepy, eerie and inspiring enterprise of hunting up one’s subject’s final resting place? The NEBS steering committee members, Dobrow, Dykstra, and Marshall, all have stories to tell—one of us will admit to having peeked into her subject’s coffin! Final chapters can be the most fun to research and write, full of both poignance and relief (for the writer) and revelation (about the subject). We hope to leave time for audience members to offer their own stories in brief as well. Join us if you dare!

The New England Biography Series invites you to join the conversation. Please note, this is an online event hosted on the video conference platform, Zoom. Registrants will receive a confirmation message with attendance information.
