This is a hybrid event hosted at the Colonial Society of Massachusetts (87 Mount Vernon St., Boston). There will be an in-person reception at 2:15 pm, followed by the ceremony at 3:00 pm.
Join us at the Colonial Society of Massachusetts for the awarding of the 2023 Peter J. Gomes Memorial Book Prize to Andrew M. Wehrman for his monograph, The Contagion of Liberty: The Politics of Smallpox in the American Revolution, published in 2022 by Johns Hopkins University Press. The Peter J. Gomes Memorial Book Prize is given to the best nonfiction work on the history of Massachusetts published during the preceding year. The ceremony at the Colonial Society will feature Andrew M. Wehrman in conversation with William Fowler, Professor of History at Northeastern University and former Director of the Massachusetts Historical Society.
