    This is probably the first private commemorative medal produced at the U.S. Mint. The inscriptions on the medal read: "Th: Jefferson President of the U.S. 4 March 1801/ Under his wing is protection" and "To commemorate Decl. Of Independence Constitution July 4, 1776."
