Note: This is probably the "Project" that JA speaks of as his own in a letter to Livingston, 10 Aug. 1783, which was presented by Franklin and Jay to Hartley while JA was at The Hague; see Wharton, 6:643; see also JA to Livingston, 13 Aug. (same, p. 645), reporting that JA and Franklin presented this Project to Vergennes for his consideration. There is a text, "(Project for) the definitive Treaty of Peace and Friendship" between Great Britain and the U.S.
without date, in PCC, No. 85, p. 398–411, which is enclosure "No. 4" in American Commissioners to Congress, 10 Sept. 1783.
