- proposed outing of the Hist. Society to Merrymount
- Note: No year date is given, only the words "Sunday 8th." Since the outing was to be held on May 1, the letter had to be written in the spring of the year. Although originally given a conjectural date of 1876, 1877 is the only year around this time in which the 8th day of a spring month falls on a Sunday.
