Whereas John Winthrop Junr. esqr. hath put me into the Ironworke as an adventurour and given me credit for fiftye pounds therein and given me tyme for the payment of the said 50li till my retorne next yeare out of England, if therefore I shall not pay him the said 50li before the first day of September next, that then the said 50li shalbe and remayne to the sole and proper vse of the said John his heires and assignes for euer. Witnes my hand this 16 of December 1644.

I doe heerby give full power to my Loving Brother Mr. Jo: Winthrop to take vpp twentye pownds due to me from Jo: Read of Braintrye also fortye and one pownds doe from James Oliver in Boston vpon all demandes: and Likewise to take what is due to me from Goodman Milam of Boston: and to make vse of such other estate of mine as it shalbe in my Brother Adams hands of the Triall vioag (during my absence or till further Order) as his occations in the Iron Worke shall require my Brother Adam hath the Accompt and Bill of James Oliver.
