Memorandum that the xvth day of Octobre Anno 1601 I sealed an obligacion with Mr. Thomas Nicholson to Bowle of Brettenham for the payement of x li. the xvth day of Octobre Anno 1604 in the porche of Groton Church. paid

John Grymwade hathe an obligacion of a C li. for the payement of lij li. x s. the xvjth of Octobre Anno 1600, whereof I payd him the said daye 1 s. and on the xvth of octobre Anno 1601 I payd him x li. and my wife lent him xx li. in whight mony and vj li. xv s. in goulde and since the first of Novembre she paid him at one tyme xxiij li. more she paid him iij li.

Memorandum that on Thursday the xxth of Octobre Anno 1603 I Adam Winthrop made a demande in my brothers John name within the hall of the house where Paul Powle dwelt in Groton of iij li. x s. due unto my brother for his halfe yeres rent at the feast of St. Michil Tharchangell last past in the presence of William Sherman Strange Firmin Thomas Whale and Anne Winthrop the wife of Josua Winthrop my nephewe and remayned there demaundinge the said Rent bothe before and after the soonne went downe

P.1 with Condicion endorsed for the payement of xx li. per Annum by v li. every quarter vnto Elizabeth Winthrop my brother Johns wife during the Couerture betwene him and her to be payd within the Countinge House of the Roiall exchange in london. Witnesses to the deliuering thereof are my Nephewe Adam Winthrop Mr. Payne an attorney of the Kings Benche and Gilbert Vintener. the obligacion is a paper written by Mr. Paul Powle and she kepethe it.
