Inclosed is a writ which I wish you to be kind enough to Look over & See whether it is right drawn & hand it to an Officer that it may be Served. Hope you & good family are in health & that you have got thro your fatigue & trouble of Repairing your House.1 Expect to see 339 your at Septr. Court. Please present my & Mrs. Padelfords best respects to your Lady (whom we shall be glad to see with you) & Accept them same yourself.

Philadelphia Novr. the 3d. 1785 Sir,

I1 most sincerely beg your pardon for the Delay I have occasioned in relation to the papers of the Good Intent, your own knowledge of the difficulty of retaining in ones memory every particular which we have occasion to recollect will be my best Apology.

Inclosed I send you the Decree for which I have paid forty two Dollars, being the Register & Cryers fees, Six pounds for the Advocate was not demanded as were the succesfull party but is equally to be charged our Opponents.

Jared Ingersoll (1749–1822) graduated from Yale, 1766, and later continued his law studies at the Middle Temple in London. He returned to Philadelphia in 1778 and two years later was elected to the Continental Congress. Later Ingersoll served as solicitor for the City of Philadelphia, as U.S. district attorney for Pennsylvania, and finally as presiding judge of the district court of Philadelphia (American National Biography).
