Nantes March 4. 1783 Sir,

I wrote you, before of the great disappointment, I met with, by the Julius Cesar’s not taking the goods I purchased to go by her. I now do myself the Honor the enclose you an Invoice of Sundries shipt on your acct. & Risque, on board the Brigt. Union Capt. Isaac Smith bound for Boston, the Articles are packt in a Bale Consign’d to Mr. Wm. Sherburn1 to whom please to apply. The amount of the enclosed Invoice and Charges is 459.6.1. and that shipt by the Success, which I flatter myself you have received sometime since is 445:17.7 the two sums making 905:3.8. which leaves a Ballance in your favor of 114.16.4. which I shall desire my Brother William to pay you. As I suppose you would not chuse to have any thing sent from this, now there is peace.

And as I shall go for Petersbourgh before your answer can arrive, I thought this mode the best for you which I doubt not you will approve.

I have the Honor to be your most Obedient Humble servant Jeremiah Allen
