Taunton January 12th: 1780 Sir,

I Take this opertunety to Informe you that the weak Paste I Purposed to have set out for Boston but the severety of the wether & the Depth of the snow has prevented together with som Indisposition should I attempt to Give you a True account of the badness of Traveling and the Impract: of Undertakeing a Journey to boston I should faile of Giveing a True Discription thereof—one of the members of Convention spent four Days in attempting to Give his attendence & was obliged to Return finding the way Impassable. I have Lately Recd. an order of the General Court for my attendence Respecting my Receiveing Cloathing for the Continental armey and therein much Blamed for Recive Such, you may Remember sir formerly a man was not adjudged Gilty before the party accused was present Impossibilety cannot be complyed with. I am Informed this weak Executions will be granted out against Defective Constables. You will be so Kinde if possible to prevent aney Such proceedings against Such in this Town I have now Two or three Constables money in my hands for the Treasr: but am prevented coming by the Reasons a fore sd: My Neighbour Abrum Lincoln has by him part of his Tax for sd: Treasr: and askes your favour to giv an order on him from sd. Treasr: to pay the Select men of sd: Taunton for the cloathing mentioned in my Return to the Secretary which they are in much want of, you will Take the first opertunety to send Said order to me by som safe hand and whether the convention Determines to Set & finish the constitution or what is there pleasure conserning matters.
