My dear, Taunton Novr. 10. 1776

The docter Set out for Boston to morrow. By him I Send this. I hear you have let your hair grow which alters you very much. I fear I Shant know you when you Comes home if that happy time Should ever come without Looking at the mark in your face which I hope is not alter’d. I have not received a line from you Since the 9 of oct. for what reason I Cant concive. Other Gentlemen Comes home & Surely you might write though you Cant afford time to Come. I have recd. of mr. Bayles 52.0. He Sends Complyments & Says he is Still the Same & wants to See you very much. He desines to go to philada. this winter. I fear I Shall lose Seth. Theirs more men Call’d for & Seth exspect to be drawn out. He was drawn out Some time ago & paid but I fear he must go now. If he does I Shant ingage any body till you return. We hear the enemy have Left new york & have Landed nearer here but I hope they wont reach here this winter. I wish they ware all where Lord north was the 5 of this month. He was burnt on the green with his master & the pope. Our privateers are dayly Sending in prizes, but Sugar & molasses are very dear. Theirs vessel going from here to philada. in which I wish you’d Send me a Barrell of good flower for theirs not any here fitt to eat. Our family are pretty well. I desine to go to Boston very Soon but hope you’ll Come home before I go. All friends Sends Complyments. In haste your mindfull & affectinate,

Gentlemen, Antietam 12th Novr. 1776

We must once more beg the favour of your furnishing us with the sizes & dimensions of the Guns you want by the first opperty. as 318our new works will be ready again Christmas. We shall loose time if we dont get them in a week or two as we cant prepare the spindles moulds &c. without them. If twelve pounders & under wod. answer for the worst of the winter it wod. be a great easement to use in point of Carriage while the roads are at their worst. However we will obey your orders, & are with due respect Your Obedient Hbl. Servants,
