Lancaster December the 26 1757 Sr.,

I have here Inclosed the Note Indorsed to you by Abner Sawyer & also the Writ, which I desire you take care of at Court if he does not make it up before. I sent word by the officer when he went to Serve it, that you had Sent the Note to me to save him a Journey to Boston if he would Make it up before Court, & you must tell him the same if he makes it up before Court, so that there may not appear any Collusion in the Affair. I durst not keep it any longer lest I should fail of a Conveyance. I have also Inclosed a Certificate so that I may get an Execution out of the Clerks office for Middlesex, which I should be glad you would give to Mr. Mason as soon as you can conveniently & take the Execution and give it to the Sheriff & also take a Minute of the Costs of Court which is a necessary Point

I am yr. Friend & Servt.

From Abel Willard

I have the disagreable news to tell you that Sawyer (who Indorsed the Note that I sent to you) & the Deft. came to to me this Night & after a Conference held about the Matter till one a Clock in the Morning came to a Settlement. Therefore I desire you would be so good as to send me the Note back again & proceed no farther. Send me also a Power from your Sister Eunice for I have sent out the writ against Baldwin which I dont expect will come to so unlucky an Issue as this has done. I mean as to disappoint you of further fees. I am yours &c.

ABEL WILLARD

N.B. write me by my Brother what News and how business goes on &c &c.
