Yours by my wife dated Augt. 1756 is now before me. Ere this comes to hand you will Doubtless hear that your Father is with Capt. Jones and thro: his Care to be Convey'd as you Shall direct. It was not in my Power to keep him any longer Notwithstanding all the advice I could get or Arguments I could advance—as Capt. Jones can advice. I send by sd. Jones Your Chest No. 7—which Contains the Globs—2 Portmantle Cases—a piece woolin Cloth—yr. Fathers Best Great Coat—Light Blue Coat & Breeches—blue Jacket doz Inck Powder Allens Synopsis &c.—& Two Blankets—the Key is with his Keys—also his Chest No. 3. EF. with his Clothes Linin &c.—also those Pappers in the upper Draw vizt. the back Teer—his Case with above Six Quarts of Rum & Two of Wine—some Sugar &c.—&c.—also the Chest of Papers with many books all Nail'd up & Sealed with the Impression of a Lyon. There are Several things left to be mended & washed as Shurts and Stockings—beside the 12 Shurts hereafter Mention'd—which with all his other things I shall Send when he orders. Fearing that a Privateer is off this Harbour I have taken oute of his Chest Twelve his Best Shurts & Twelve Napkins—his Spoons, Velvet and many more things for fear356they sho'd be taken. These with all his other things I will Send when he shall direct or whoever Succeeds him—for I do not think he will live long. I have taken Special Care that his going & being in Boston be as Secret as may be—So as not to prevent Success to your Scheem in Settling his affairs. He brings in his press Fifty Shills. Cash in his Chest—his Cane. My Love to all Friends. Your Freind & Serv.,
