... Ordered, That Mr. Sumner, Mr. Ingalls, and Mr. Paine be a Committee to bring in a Bill to prevent the pernicious Practice of some Officers and others selling Men who have been inlisted for Months, having no particular Place of Abode, to certain Towns for their Quota of the Continental Army.

Tuesday, September 16, 1777

Ordered, That Mr. Paine, Mr. Greenough and Mr. Partridge, be a Committee to enquire into the Conduct of the Inhabitants of the Island of NanĀ­ 391 tucket, and the Practices carried on with them, and report what is proper to be done with respect to them.
