Mr. Hellon has been with me on his affairs and tells me he can get Two hundred pounds Security at Taunton on my Releaseing the Land at Easttown, also procure good Security for Two hundred pounds more at Newport, on Condition of my delivering up the Brig at Andrew:s wharf and Sloop & Ship buildg. in the Cove. I am willing to do it provided the Security he offers shall be accepted by Messrs. Channing & Wickham of Newport. Mr. Henry Bowers at Swansey is by our agreemt. to Judge of the Security at Taunton. You know little or no Dependence can be put on what sd. Hellon says, so doubt not you'l be on your guard & not give up any one thing untill the Securitys are Deliver'd you fully Compleated to your Acceptance. If he makes out this four hundred p'ds. there then will remain £300 more, for wch. I have his Ship Yard & buildings thereon for Security, in lieu of wch. I am in hopes to receive Money from Messr. Rogers & Blanchard on accot: of Capt. Osborn's Brign. as am perswaded from Helion's accot: of the matter full £300 may be recover'd by him from them, as he says when he gave them a bill of Sale of sd. Brign. they gave him a Rect. that they had recd: sd: bill Sale only as Security for the Sum mention'd therein, & that on his paying them sd. Sum the sd. Brig was to be Deliver'd back & c.

Mr. Hellon told me the person who wants to buy the Land at Easttown wd. pay in Hollow ware in a month or two & wd. fain have me take sd. ware, but I decline doing it, unless the sd. ware is sent as a Consignment to me to raise money out of it to pay off sd. two hundred pounds Security, wch. Bussniss (for the Encouragmt. of the Owner) I wd. do without Commisso. he paying only such Charges as I must be at in Cartage Storage Portarage &c: Pray let me know what is done wth: Delano:s Debt. I am with Esteem Sr. Your most hble. Servt.

GILBERT DEBLOIS

PS. I hope you have seen that the Sherriff has made Return on Helion's Execution properly, if not done yet, it must be before 1st Novr. & as the Stamp Act will prevent taking any bonds Mortgages &c. do Suppose the Securitys Mr. Hellon is to procure must be by notes of hand, in this case I wd. not take one man alone, but Insist on two good ones at least to sign Joyntly & severally &c. & payable to me or my order with Intt. from the Date till paid.
