A copy of the “Address of the President of the United States to General La Fayette on taking leave of him at his departure on the 7th of September,” in CFA’s handwriting, is in the Adams Papers.

Jeremiah Condy, who lived at 199 Meeting Street in Charleston, frequently sent JQA the South Carolina newspapers and political gossip (South Carolina Historical and Genealogical Magazine, 42:214 [Jan. 1942]; JQA, Diary, 6 Sept. 1825).
