Fine day. I went to Market and from thence to Quincy where I had agreed to meet several workmen on matters connected with my house. Found it looking far more pleasant and cheerful than I had anticipated. The winter has on the whole left the work pretty fairly. I went over the house and opened it to receive the air. Made arrangements with the painter and grate maker. Decided upon a furnace. And then home. The South side of the house looked exceedingly warm and agreeable at this time in the year when I had expected it would be bleak. But the day was fine and the wind westerly, which makes a great difference. Home but rather late so that I had little time to do any thing. Afternoon, coins. Evening at home. H. G. Gorham here for an hour.
