As our things were so numerous as not to be easily manageable in one day’s transportation and I needed one day more to complete the Catalogue, I thought it would be advisable to stay until tomorrow. Accordingly we so decided, and Mr. Degrand thus got the chance of the Ride to town. I went to the Office and was busy about my Affairs. Received today two different payments from Debtors to the Estate of Mr. New, being the first money received from that property. I am now proceeding pretty rapidly to wind up the Affairs of that man. Next week I must apply for a Commission of Insolvency. Paid several demands for last Week. In the afternoon after dinner at home, I proceeded with the Catalogue in the Office and finished all that portion of it, and in the evening I completed the few remaining stragglers which I could find. This has been no trifling labour.
