Evening at the Concert. Miss Gillingham’s sung tolerably well only. I was with Mrs. Everett and Miss Brooks much of the evening.2

CFA again spent the morning at home, reading Voltaire and Spenser, which he now called “superficial reading” (D/CFA/1).
