Evening at the Concert. Miss Gillingham’s sung tolerably well only. I was with Mrs. Everett and Miss Brooks much of the evening.2

CFA again spent the morning at home, reading Voltaire and Spenser, which he now called “superficial reading” (D/CFA/1).

Ward Chipman Brooks (1804–1828), a brother of Mrs. Everett and Abigail B. Brooks, was also present (D/CFA/1.) See Adams Genealogy.
