The completion of volume 13 of the Adams Family Correspondence required the dedicated efforts of the staff of the Adams Papers editorial project, past and present. We are grateful for the devoted service of former editor in chief C. James Taylor, who continues to offer his counsel and support. Rhonda Barlow, assistant editor with the project, and Gwen Fries, our newest staff member, both assisted with the final stages of the volume with enthusiasm and good humor. Two interns with the Adams Papers, Aiden Merrill-Skoloff and Margot Rashba, also contributed to this and future volumes.

Preparing this volume also involved fruitful collaboration with people outside the project. We are grateful to Caroline Keinath, Kelly Cobble, and all the staff at Adams National Historical Park; Ashley Cataldo at the American Antiquarian Society; Carolle R. Morini and Mary Warnement at the Boston Athenæum; Alice Kane at the New England Historic Genealogical Society; Molly Bruce Patterson and Bertram Lippincott III at the Newport Historical Society; Maureen Maryanski at the New-York Historical Society; Tom Downey and the editors of the Papers of Thomas Jefferson; and Mary Sherrer and the other editors at the Papers of the Revolutionary Era Pinckney Statesmen. The reference staff and librarians at Harvard University’s Houghton, Lamont, and Widener libraries also offered invaluable assistance.

Our thanks are once again due to our longtime copyeditor, Ann-Marie Imbornoni, whose contributions saw the manuscript through its final stages, and Kenneth and Kevin Krugh of Technologies ’N Typography in Merrimac, Massachusetts, who managed the typesetting of the volume. At Harvard University Press, we appreciate the support of Andrew Kinney, General Editor; Tim Jones, Director of Design and Production; Abigail Mumford, Assistant Director of Production; Lisa Roberts, Design Manager and Book Designer; and Olivia Woods, Editorial Assistant.
