My dearest Friend
I have only time whilst the Stage stops a few moments to say that I received yours of 24 last Evening. The day was not forgotten by me. Mrs. Smith invited Mr. Otis and Family to dine with us upon the occasion, and made the token of New England thanksgiving a fine plumb pudding, and the company toasted the day and many happy returns of it.
Your Letter added to the pleasure of the day by informing me, that the old maidens with their [illegible] [No transcription available -- see page image]
evenings, had cured you of your cold, a wife should never suffer a rival in kindness or attention; and when I return to Quincy I expect to find a covering of the same kind for you, having got Thomas[No transcription available -- see page image] for a couple of them from his recommendation of them, and he writes me that Mrs. Pitcairn had sent them.
Brisler is just come, but poor little John was yesterday seizd with the Mumps. He will cross to day, and stop on the morrow if the child should be sick.
