About the Prussian Order of the Red Eagle

The Prussian Order of the Red Eagle is a 1777 revival of an earlier Order of the Brandenburg Red Eagle. It became the second highest order of the kingdom of Prussia when the Principality of Brandenburg-Ansbach was annexed by Prussia. The fourth order was added in 1830 by Friedrich Wilhelm III for junior officers and civilians "of equivalent rank."
