Arthur A. Shurcliff was a noted landscape architect. He was born in Boston and received an engineering degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He befriended and worked for Frederick Law Olmsted, carrying on much of Olmsted’s work after his death. Shurcliff built a collection of 1,295 glass lantern slides depicting maps, plans, cityscapes, buildings, and more. Many of these slides illustrate his work, chiefly in the Boston metropolitan area.
