A small cannon ball, said to have been found on the side of the road near Lexington, Mass. after the Battles of Lexington and Concord on 19 April 1775. It is made of lead and was the type of projectile fired from a smooth-bored cannon.
Since cannons were not reportedly used during the battle (or skirmish) on Lexington Green on the morning of 19 April 1775, this cannonball might have been a projectile fired in the afternoon when the British soldiers returned through Lexington (after going to Concord), on their way back to Boston.
