This portrait depicts Rachel Walker Revere (1745-1815), wife of Paul Revere and mother of eight children. This portrait was painted by Chester Harding (1792-1866) about 1823; it is a copy of a portrait by Gilbert Stuart in 1813.

Rachel Walker Revere was born in Boston in 1745. She was the daughter of Richard and Rachel (Carlile) Walker. In 1773, she became the second wife of Paul Revere and was the mother of eight of his sixteen children. Rachel Revere died in Boston in 1815.
