[1775] Mr. Gill and
some others so far liberated as to
walk the Town. An Account taking of
all the Houses, etc., in town; and every
Inha-
-bitant required by Proclamation to give in
a List of those in his Family.
10. [October 1775] This
day General Gage set sail for
England
in the Pallas a Transport.
11. [October 1775]
Yesterday it is said an Express arrived from
Que-
beck giving an Account of the Provincials
having proceeded as far up as
St. John's
Fort.
18. [October 1775] Last
Evening several Shot were fired into
Town from a Gondelo off of
Cambridge
tho' without killing any one.
28. [October 1775]
Several Proclamations have been issued to-
-day, respecting departing the Town, -- carrying
away more than 5 £ : and an Association
to preserve the Peace and good Order of the
Town.
Nov. 9.
[1775] Several Companies were boated over to
Phip's Farm & brought
off some Cattle
at noon day under Cover of a Ship in
the river, Cannon on
Charlestown point,
& their own Floats, etc; without any Loss.
15. [November 1775]
Almost every House whose Owner has gone out
of Town is taken up for the Troops: and the
old South Meeting-House is turn'd
into a riding
School for the light Horse, the Pews and Gal-
leries being taken down -- many of the other
Places of Worship are turn'd into Barracks.
