[August 29, 1775, cont.] Short a long time. At 5 in the afternoon it
rained very hard, at which time the provost
ordered our doors to be open'd for an airing. Dyer
tryed and acquitted, and ordered to depart the
province.

30. [August 1775] It rained the whole day, therefore was al-
lowed some liberty of the yard if we chose
to walk in it. No light allowed us.

31. [August 1775] It rained hard; Some liberty of the yard
allowed now we could not take it. This day
73 days confin'd, and have had nothing but
bread and water allowed us. This day each
man had Served for 5 days, Pork, 2. lb 10 Oz. But-
ter 3 1/2 Oz. Rice 1 jill. Peas 1 3/4 pint. Master
Lovell had half a pound of fresh beef being
Sick. No fire or candle light allowed us at
night.

Sept. 1. [1775] Some air allowed us by the door being kept
open; but no candle light or Smoaking al-
lowed.

2. [September 1775] Liberty of the yard Sometime. No candle
light or fire allowed us. The provost Served
us with 5 wooden Spoons, 5 wooden trench-
ers, and a pail.

3. [September 1775] The doors open all day. -- No candle light
