We then went below to
engine room of the Pensacola -
no radio activity except on one
engine wheel - I went in the after
boiler room - the blast coming
down the smoke-stack blew the
boiler sides out about 6 inches -
& some other damage that made
it dangerous to start a fire - I
was told the front boiler room
was not so bad - the ward-room
was in good shape - Power was
from diesels & they hoped to get
the electric stove going -
Capt. Ramsey gave me a slight idea
of paper work & reports required
in the next two weeks - well
