My dear Senator Saltonstall:

In regard to the query of the President's Evaluation
Commission as to the time required for attendance at the
atomic bomb tests; for the first test, "Able", we have
scheduled a plane to take you directly to Kwajalein where
you will be picked up by ship and taken to Bikini lagoon.

If you travel by plane:
Leave Washington on either 22 or 23 June, a.m.;
Arrive Kwajalein, 28 June;
Arrive Bikini, 29 June.

If you travel by train and ship:
Leave Washington 10:30 p.m., 8 June;
Leave Oakland, a.m., 12 June;
Arrive Honolulu, p.m. 18 June;
Leave Honolulu, p.m. 20 June;
Arrive and leave Kwajalein, 28 June;
Arrive Bikini, 29 June.

Weather permitting, the first test is scheduled
for 1 July. The second test will follow as soon as possible
after the first test with a minimum intervening period of
three weeks.

Air transportation to the United States will be
available to you at the conclusion of the inspections sub-
sequent to Test Able and also after Test Baker.
