[This text is printed on the letterhead.] THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON

June 24, 1975

Dear Leverett:

Thanks so much for your thoughtful letter
following my recent press conference. Nothing
means more to me than words of support and
encouragement from longtime friends and
colleagues.

I particularly appreciate having your experienced
views on the matter of the CIA. I believe the
Rockefeller Commission was fair and balanced in
its efforts. Their report, together with the further
reports and recommendations I have requested,
should provide a reasonable basis for determining
what measures are necessary and appropriate to
insure both our national security and the Constitu-
tional rights of all Americans.

With warmest personal regards and appreciation
for your thoughtfulness,
Gerry Ford
