In preparation for the upcoming conflict, Congress reached out to other British colonies outside of the original thirteen in the hopes of securing allies. This address, meant to appeal to Canadians' sense of honor and to demonize Britain as a tyrannical oppressor, was carried to Canada in May 1775.
