- Coming of the American Revolution
In his diary entry for 4 March 1768, Boston merchant John Rowe describes a meeting of a committee of merchants on the effects of the duties on trade and debt. He lists the six resolutions the merchants favored as part of a year-long plan (which eventually went into effect in August) to limit imports to a few specific commodities. He also mentions the need to coordinate the non-importation activities with other colonies.
