Letter from Mercy Otis Warren (1728–1814), in Plymouth, Mass., to Hannah Winthrop (baptized 1727-1790), in Cambridge, Mass., 4 August 1777, inquiring after the health of her friends, wondering whether Mr. Winthrop is still teaching, and noting that "every social enjoyment is interrupted and our ideas dwell much upon scenes of devastation...and blood".
