Letter from Mercy Otis Warren (1728–1814), in Plymouth, Mass., to Hannah Winthrop (baptized 1727-1790), 1774, expressing her sympathies for a recent loss and offers "a mournful sigh for the condition of humanity." Warren quotes from the "Night III" section of the long poem, "The Complaint, or Night Thoughts on Life, Death and Immortality" by Edward Young.
