Abstract

Cartes de visite of notable 19th-century figures and miscellaneous photographs collected by members of the Lamb family of Boston.

Collection Description

The Lamb family photographs comprise three volumes of cartes de visite of notable 19th-century Americans and Europeans; a carte de visite album containing photographs of Civil War soldiers, many from the 7th New Jersey Infantry Regiment; and miscellaneous loose photographs, including cabinet card reproductions of paintings of members of the Rotch family. Identified photographers include J. W. Black and G. K. Warren of Boston; Mora, Sarony, and Mathew Brady of New York; Elliott & Fry and the London Stereoscopic Co.; and LeJeune and Disderi & Cie. of Paris, among many others.
