the Poor of various Massachusetts towns concerning inhabitants of other towns in the Boston
Almshouse and the inhabitants of Boston in the almshouses of other towns. There are letters
and documents received by the Overseers in an attempt to settle claims.
Correspondence regarding inhabitants of other towns in Boston almshouses includes the
following towns: Barnstable, Beverly, Braintree, Gardner, Haverhill, Nantucket, Newbury,
Newburyport, Portland, and Salem. Correspondence regarding inhabitants of Boston in
almshouses outside of Boston includes the following towns: Abington, Andover, Cambridge,
Canton, Dorchester, Medford, Otisfield, and Roxbury.
