Rijksarchief; no mention in extant letters from JA to Dumas during remainder of 1783 (10 Sept., 28 Nov., 4 Dec., 14 Dec.); Dumas states in 21 Aug. letter to JA (Adams Papers) that he wrote to JA on 8 and 12 Aug. but makes no mention of writing him on 18 Aug. The original of this slip may have been an inadvertent duplication of C.W.F. Dumas to JA, 8 Aug. 1783, or JA to C.W.F. Dumas, 18 Aug. 1783.
