Page 40 had three attachments- two tabs (40.1 and 40.3) and one paste-down (40.2). Attachment 40.1 only has text on one side, like a paste-down, but flips up, like a tab. Attachment 40.2 only has text on one side and is a revision of the text which it conceals. When reading this page, one must flip up Attachment 40.1 in order to read the text on Attachment 40.2. Attachment 40.3 is a footnote and was attached after Jefferson added Attachment 40.1.
