In this letter to William Barrell dated 28 January 1774, Jonathan Andrews informs Barrell that he is forwarding a copy of Phillis Wheatley's book via ship, and he offers the opinion that the author is holding back a number of poems to "have ye benefit of another volume." A second volume of poetry never appeared, as Phillis failed to obtain the necessary number of subscriptions to finance its publication.
