Crumell Barns's receipt to Hartford Roberts for rent, dated at Boston, 28 September 1791. Crumell Barnes [alternatively, Cromwell Barnes] was a Black landowner, barber, and wigmaker in Boston. Hartford Roberts was admitted to the almshouse on 15 May 1790 and sent to the workhouse from there.
