Samuel Bowman writes to an unknown recipient, probably Samuel P. Savage, explaining why he is unable to purchase and maintain an enslaved person named Pompe, 14 October 1752. Savage was the chairman of the Massachusetts Board of War during the Revolution, and a follower of the evangelical preacher George Whitefield.
