Brooch containing lock of hair of Mercy Otis Warren, which Warren sent to John and Abigail Adams, and which the latter "had set in a handkerchief pin." The brooch is a rectangular shape, having border of 35 seed pearls and inner band of gold coiled around cabochon crystal enclosing braided blond hair and gold foil initials "MW." Gold brooch case is convex shaped and has hinged pin and hook clasp. The accompanying original box is of cardboard and red leather, with hinged lid, bronze hook clasp and white satin lining (modern red velvet added).
