William C. Nell (1816-1874), who had been one of William Lloyd Garrison's strongest supporters from the Boston African American community, wrote a "Farewell to The Liberator," dated to mark the thirtieth anniversary of the mob attack on Garrison in 1835. Nell's letter was published on the last page of the last issue, and as a separate broadsheet.
