This collection consists of autograph letters by famous individuals, including presidents, American and British statesmen, reformers, and literary figures, primarily written to U.S. Senator George F. Hoar.

Collection Description

This collection consists of autograph letters by famous individuals, including presidents, American and British statesmen, reformers, and literary figures, primarily written to U.S. Senator George F. Hoar. Among the correspondents are Charles F. Adams (1835-1915), Edward Everett Hale, John Hay, Henry Cabot Lodge, and Theodore Roosevelt. The collection also contains autograph letters to others, including letters by John Adams, as well as correspondence of Daniel Webster and material about Webster collected by Hoar.

Most items are individually described in the MHS manuscript catalog.
